Product Review: Laura Mercier 'Oil Free Tinted Moisturiser'

I've been desperate to get my hands on this for a while now. I have plenty of foundations and plenty of BB and CC creams, but I wanted something with a slightly different coverage, perfect for the summer. Lots of beauty bloggers and YouTubers rant and rave about the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser so I thought I would give it a go.

I have a really oily skin type so opted for the oil free one, which the girl at the counter said has a higher coverage than the normal one and won't melt off your face in the hot weather either.

When spending a little more money on makeup it's so important make sure you're getting the right thing, so don't be afraid to ask for help about which one to get and in which shade. The girl where I got mine was so helpful and matched me to 'porcelain', which is the exact colour of my skin. It will probably be a little light when I have a tan, but to be honest tans never last that long on me anyway. This does comes out quite light at first, but she told me that it sets darker after a couple of minutes - she was right.
However originally I went into Fenwick Bond Street and they didn't tell me any of this information and actually matched me to a completely different shade. It is definitely worth going to a few different places to make sure you get the right shade.

As far as the actual product goes, I really like it. Although it is oil free, I think it would work really well on combination skin because it is not greasy, and doesn't cling to any dry patches, which is something else I often have a problem with.

It has an almost satin finish as it is incredibly natural looking, where you can hardly tell there is any product on your skin at all. It does however come out of the tube as quite a thick, gel like formula. This blends out really smoothly though, leaving a really light coverage base on the skin.

It also has an SPF of 20, which is something I like, but I know many people won't.

The only negative I have is that I feel like I have to use quite a bit of the product. Because of this I don't know how long the tube will last for, or if I'll get my money's worth. Also, you have to work with it quite quick because it drys fairly fast. This is great once applied on your face, or if you're in a hurry, but not if you like to take your time with your makeup or if you apply it on the back of your hand before.

Another thing I wanted to mention was the 'Oil Free Foundation Primer'. She gave me a sample because I told her about my skin and how one of my biggest problems is product sliding off my skin. I can't quite make up my mind what I think of it yet. Again, I do feel like I have to use quite a lot of product to get the benefits of it. However it is a really nice formula and not greasy like many primers are. The thing I like the most about it is the smell. I know that shouldn't really matter, but it is one of the best smelling makeup products I own! The other bonus is that the girl at the counter told me it also acts as a sun cream on the face too, so it can be worn with or without makeup. Although it's great, it is however quite toppy and there are definitely drugstore equivalents that are just as good.

Buy the primer here. However there are so many to choose from depending on what you're looking for, so have a look at the full selection here.
