Album Review: Imagine Dragons 'Smoke & Mirrors'

I've always thought Imagine Dragons were good, but have never really listened to much of their music, besides the singles that everyone knows. However on a bit of a whim I decided to listen to their new album 'Smoke & Mirrors' on iTunes. Without really realising I ended up listening to the album (actually just the track previews) for weeks. Then I was in HMV last week, and thought it was silly I didn't own a copy of the album. So I bought one.

Why I haven't listened to an album of their before is a mystery. It is so up my street with great guitars and instruments in tracks like 'Hopeless Opus'. And actually just one of those albums I know will never feel out dated.

What I love most about this album is the eclectic sound throughout. I couldn't put this into one genre, because it has so many different sounds to it. It might just be me, but I feel a bit of country, rock, pop, acoustic, indie and even electronic. It sounds crazy I know, but listen and you'll know what I'm on about.

There is no doubt they are an incredibly talented band who write everything themselves, and in my opinion are massively underrated.

I highly recommend this album.

My favourite tracks off the album...
I Bet My Life
Smoke and Mirrors
Hopeless Opus
