My Autumn Essentials: Beauty

Dark Lippy
A cult favourite is the Rimmel Kate Moss '107' lipstick. It is a really deep matte red shade, perfect for autumn. Also, you can apply it to make it as dark or light as you want to can be worn with almost any makeup or outfit look.

My ultimate indulgent, luxury lippy for the autumn is the Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupte 'Rouge In Danger'. This in between pink and red berry shade is utterly delicious, and has been my go to lipstick for autumn/winter the past few years. It lasts for hours and is extremely moisturising - two qualities I always look for in a good lipstick.

I am not normally a plum lip kinda girl, because I am so very pale I feel such dark colours make me look like a drag queen. My answer to this problem is the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in 'Crush Beguin'. It is so wearable and a definite makeup staple for autumn/winter.

Dark Nail Polish
Essie 'Midnight Cami'
Because I am so pale and pasty, very dark nail colours have never worked for me. I tried out this colour by Essie and fell in love. It is such a flattering colour on so many skin tones. It is a very deep navy blue with a hint of gimmer. And of course being Essie doesn't chip for ages. It is also very similar to Tanya Burr's 'Midnight Sparkles'.

Revlon 'Vixen' is one of the few nail polishes I have repurchased several times. I bring it out every year as soon as September arrives, and it stays at the front of my nail polish collection until the spring. It is a really georgeous vampy red, which usually lasts me at least a week - a rare quality in a drugstore nail polish.

I absolutely love purple nail polishes - especially in the autumn. I was given this magnetic nail polish for my birthday and after a few trial and errors, I think i've 'nailed' it! It's fairly simple really. I think it is something a bit different and a great alternative if you're not a  jewellrey person.

Topshop 'Jewel In The Crown'
I love the colour green, but it has never seemed to work for me on my nails - i've just never really found a colour I think looks good... until now. About a year ago I found 'Jewel In The Crown', which as the name suggests, is a very royal green. It goes with so many things, and lasts ages. Topshop nail polishes are quickly becoming a favourite of mine.

Warm Blush
Rimmel Kate Moss '107' lipstick                                                      Rimmel 'Smoked Oyster' blusher

Rimmel 'Smoked Oyster' is the blusher that has been in my makeup collection the longest. Although I love it all year round, applied a little heavier it is the perfect warm and natural shade for the autumn.

I've recently been using the Rimmel Kate Moss '107' lipstick on my cheeks as a cream blush and it actually works a charm. This is a lovely colour for the evening and absolutely does not budge. I would avoid however using it on the cheeks if using it as a lipstick too - you don't want to look like you've been in the sun too long.

Moisturiser

Origins GinZing is by far the product I get most sad about when it starts running out. I use it every day, and have done for a few years now. Moisturising is important all year, but when it gets colder I find moisturising especially important because the skin tends to be more dry.

The Simple Hydrating Light Moisturiser is a great drugstore moisturiser. I love to use it just before applying foundation so my skin stays hydrated for as long as possible.

Lip Balm
Much like with your skin, it is important to keep your lips from drying out and cracking in the cold too. My all time favourite product for this is the Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream. It is such a diverse product and a definite handbag essential at the moment.

I don't find the Maybelline Baby Lips particularly moisturising, but I love the slight colour tint and how long it lasts. My favourite one is the shade 'Pink Punch' because it isn't too much, yet seems to make any makeup look seem put together.

Everybody needs a Burt's Bees lip balm in their life. There is a yummy flavour for everyone and it'll make your lips super soft. I use this mostly just before applying a lipstick or gloss.

A recent discovery of mine is the MOR lip balms. The flavour I have is 'blood orange' and it smells like a Terry's Chocolate Orange. I love it for the autumnal smell, but also because it is so moisturising and makes my lips really soft really quickly.
