Album Review: The Vamps 'Meet The Vamps'

I have been a mahusive fan of The Vamps when they were uploading covers on YouTube and even the pre-Connor days! So I think it is fair to say i'm pretty dedicated. I love all of their singles so far, so was very excited for their debut album 'Meet The Vamps', and brought a copy the week it was released. When buying it I was pleasantly surprised to be given a free poster thingy majiggy which was rather good.
Before talking about the album I want to quickly say that I purchased it in HMV - I thing is is really important to support music stores like HMV (however tempting it may be to pop down to the supermarket or download it online)!!

Back to the album... overall it kind of has a folky feel to it, and I've seen a few people online saying it also has an 'old school Hanson' feel to it too, which I can totally see. The Vamps have said a few times that they don't call themselves a boyband, because they play instruments and don't all sing. To a certain extent I agree.  I think they fit in with the whole McFly/ Busted genre, and as my sister and I used to call McFly 'baby Busted', perhaps The Vamps could be seen as a 'mini McFly'. Either way, they are a boyband of sorts; there is no hiding from it.

Overall, I really love the album. I am really glad it charted so well. #1 would have been amazing, but Paolo Nutini is a pretty tough act to beat when it comes to incredible albums. So #2 is pretty great too. The only thing I will say about the album is I expected more singing from Connor and James as I know they have dabbled in it before on a few tracks. But now I'm just being picky.
They have been doing a lot of behind the scenes things on their YouTube channel so you should check that out if you don't know much about them.

These are my favourite tracks from the albums (besides the singles)...
Girls On TV
High Hopes
Move My Way (THIS IS MY ABSOLUTE FAVE)
Oh Cecilia (Breaking My Heart)
Golden
